Housebuilders and property stocks gained Wednesday on hopes that the current cycle of tightening interest rates could be at a end.

While rates had been expected to reach 6 per cent or more by the end of the year to combat rising prices, this week’s news of a sharp drop in inflation was a fillip to the doves.
