Labour faces tough choices over spending

As Labour ministers grapple with their new briefs over the coming weeks and months one of the biggest issues they will face will be their bids for Labour’s spending plans beyond 2007/08.

Decisions on that - which will set spending levels out to 2010 or around the likely date of the next general election - will not be taken until next summer.
