Arsenal’s power struggle intensified after people close to Alisher Usmanov, the Russian billionaire steel magnate who owns a quarter of the Premier League club, said he was becoming increasingly frustrated at his treatment by the board.

His irritation comes as the Takeover Panel investigates the purchase of 5,000 shares in March by Stan Kroenke, the US sports entrepreneur, from Danny Fiszman, a fellow board member.
