Superhero films lift Marvel shares 9%

Shares in Marvel Entertainment soared more than 9 per cent as the comic publisher announced a range of new superhero films over the next four years, following the blockbuster opening this weekend of Iron Man.

The company, which also raised its full-year earnings guidance, recently launched a new film studio to develop and produce its own projects after years of licensing its popular characters, such as Spider-Man and X Men, to other studios.
