Judging by the bright yellow billboards blazing across southern Beirut, one could be forgiven for thinking that there is only one party running in Lebanon’s June 7 elections: the “Party of God”, Hizbollah.
The fervent support for Hizbollah in areas such as the southern suburbs, combined with some tactical political alliances, could well propel the armed Shia movement to become the most powerful force in Lebanon’s next government.
