How cable disruptions are ushering in a new wave of globalisation

Over the past three years, numerous cable cuts in submarine communications networks have brought into sharp relief the need for greater resiliency in global telecoms networks.

In 2006, the Hengchun earthquake near Taiwan ruptured seven out of the nine subsea cables used in information exchange between south-east Asia and the rest of the world.
