Positive growth figures boost Aussie

The Australian dollar advanced on Wednesday after stronger-than-expected growth figures stoked expectations that the Reserve Bank of Australia would raise interest rates before the end of the year.

Data showed Australian gross domestic product rose 0.6 per cent in the second quarter, well ahead of the consensus forecast for a rise of 0.2 per cent.
