China relaxes rules on foreign investment

China is to relax restrictions on companies and individuals making financial investments overseas in the latest stage in the government?s slow-burning strategy to loosen capital controls.

The rule changes were announced to coincide with preparations for President Hu Jintao?s visit to the US next week, and are in part designed to ease pressure on China to appreciate its currency more aggressively.
