Defensive stocks in focus in London

Defensive stocks were in demand on Friday as investors remained on edge after the FTSE 100’s worst week in four years.

Scottish & Southern Energy was the top pick, rising 3.4 per cent to £14.65. Traders said SSE was a good two-way bet, offering the prospect of strong earnings growth and the possibility of a takeover.
