Tory resurgence claims some ministerial scalps

The drop in the Labour vote claimed some ministerial scalps, with Stephen Twigg, Melanie Johnson and Chris Leslie all losing their seats to the Tories.

Mr Twigg was the first minister on Thursday night to learn he would not be returning to the Commons, falling victim to the Tory resurgence as he lost Enfield Southgate after a 9-point swing to the Conservatives.
