Sony Ericsson unveils Android-powered phone

Sony Ericsson, the troubled mobile phone maker, on Tuesday unveiled a sophisticated smartphone that it hopes will be a credible alternative to Apple’s iPhone.

The X10 handset is Sony Ericsson’s first to be powered by Google’s Android operating system, and will go on sale in the first quarter of next year.
