IHG to review costs as benchmark figure falls

InterContinental Hotels Group has begun a review of costs after seeing a sharp decline in trading during October and warning of a difficult climate “for some time to come”.

The world’s biggest hotels group by number of rooms said October’s global revenue per available room – the industry’s benchmark – fell 4.5 per cent. In the US, revenue per available room fell 5.7 per cent. Forward bookings are also down.
