Aeon follows rival into retail banking sector

Aeon, Asia's leading retailer by sales, is launching a retail banking business next year. Its target is to obtain 3m accounts and more than Y650bn ($5.5bn) in deposits within five years.

Aeon will establish the company next month and seek a banking licence from Japan's Financial Services Agency.
