US 'will avoid recession this year'

A narrow majority of private sector economists believe the US will avoid a recession this year, the National Association of Business Economists said yesterday.

The NABE, which represents economists at both financial and non-financial companies, said 45 per cent of its 49-member panel believed a recession would take place this year.
