French consumer group L'Oréal yesterday said it would appeal the ruling by a French court that online auction site Ebay is not liable for the sale of counterfeit L'Oréal products on its site.
In May, Ebay won the latest in a series of legal battles with high-end brands, when a French court ruled that the San Jose-based company was not accountable for losses suffered by L'Oréal as a result of fakes being sold on its site. L'Oréal had argued that Ebay was turning a blind eye to the site's counterfeit sales.
