Corus strikes $7bn supply deal

Corus on Thursday struck an innovative deal worth an estimated $7bn (€5.3bn) over 10 years to lock in sales of British-made steel to a Swiss-led metals consortium.

The Anglo-Dutch steel producer’s agreement underlines the acute global shortage of unfinished “slab steel”, the main product from a Corus plant on Teesside in northern England, linked to rapacious demand in China.
