EU raises doubts about Italy's budget data

Italy on Monday night became the latest eurozone country to face questions about its official budget data, amid suspicions it might have massaged figures to avoid breaking the European Union's fiscal rules.

Finance ministers, meeting in Brussels, were presented with a European Commission report that said a number of questions about Italy's debt and deficit figures remained unanswered.
