Cable and Wireless aims to complete a demerger of its UK and international businesses by mid-2010. The telecoms company on Thursday confirmed plans to create separate stock market listings for the two businesses, as it issued a profit warning at its first-half results.

C&W’s shares closed down 6 per cent at 138.9p on investor concern about the warning.
