Emerson sets $1bn revenue goal in India

Emerson, the US engineering company, is looking to double its revenue in India to $1bn by 2010, mirroring efforts by General Electric and other S&P 500 conglomerates to strengthen their foothold in the subcontinent.

David Farr, chairman and chief executive of the maker of components for generators, air-conditioning units and other products, also urged India to introduce energy efficiency standards to help reduce the need for huge expenditure on new power plants.
