Companies bite the bullet on debt issuance

A surge in bond issuance this week has highlighted a change in mindset among corporate treasurers, suggesting many are now ruling out any short-term improvement in capital markets.

France Telecom, Eon and Daimler have been among the companies raising funding in the bond market, helping fuel a surge in issuance volumes to €8.85bn ($13bn) this week, the biggest weekly total this year.
