Alaska: Doubts raised over demand for pipeline

On August 20, the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority was forced to cancel a conference designed to showcase its large natural gas deposits and promote a $30bn pipeline to carry the energy to the rest of the US.

At a time when the world is increasingly concerned about energy security, the organisers had expected companies would be eager to investigate opportunities created by its 35,000bn cubic feet of natural gas.
