Banking crisis helps Evolution build trading desk quickly

Growing uncertainty at the biggest banks about future bonuses has enabled one of London’s newest brokers to build a fixed-income trading desk from scratch in just five months, luring traders with the promise of a desk, a computer and upfront commissions.

Evolution Securities has hired 23 agency traders and sales people and is set to hire another dozen under Guy Cornelius, who managed relationships with big institutional clients at Lehman Brothers in Europe until the US bank collapsed in September.
