Katrina - one year on

Insurers wait for the wind to blow

A year on from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the insurance industry is still reeling from the most damaging storm season on record.

According to the Insurance Services Office, a data provider for the insurance industry, US insurers expect to pay policyholders $56bn in respect of Katrina, Rita and Wilma, based on actual claims submitted to, and surveys by, ISO’s Property Claim Services unit.
