Leterme given deadline on Belgian reform

Efforts to form a Belgian government are on a knife-edge after expected coalition partners gave the prime-minister-in-waiting an ultimatum to end a deadlock over state reform.

Yves Leterme, the Christian Democrat tipped to become premier, was given until tomorrow by the MR French-speaking Liberals to find a way to resume talks.
