Court upholds controversial FCC regulation

Law enforcement officials will have an easier time wiretapping telephone calls made over the internet after a court ruling on Friday that affirmed a controversial regulation passed by the Federal Communications Commission last year.

A US appeals court said the rule, which forces providers of internet-based phone service to adopt technology that would make it easier for law enforcement agencies to eavesdrop on calls, was legal.
