April is the cruellest month, breeding feeble shoots out of a dead economy.

This is the warning that leading market strategists are giving investors who hope the recent rally in global stock markets may signal a broader economic recovery. This rally, they say, is illusory and is being driven by short-term traders taking advantage of price fluctuations, rather than long-term investors expecting these gains to be sustainable.
