In the run-up to Singapore’s first Formula One Grand Prix, the city-state challenged local schools to design the fastest miniature car.
The competition was deemed a success, attracting 75 teams representing 24 secondary schools. The sideshow event also underlines one of the most serious challenges facing the sport as it expands its presence in Asia, namely trying to nurture a new generation of F1 aficionados. Many, however, see that much more as an opportunity than a hurdle.
