Berlusconi vows to fight corruption charges

Silvio Berlusconi, centre-right prime minister, said on Thursday he would defend himself in court against what he called “absurd” charges of corruption after the rejection of his immunity from prosecutionby the constitutional court.

The constitutional court ruled on Wednesday, by nine judges to six, that immunity legislation passed last year was in breach of the principle that all Italians were equal before the law.
