Irish builders going for gold in construction

Irish Republic builders, many of whom a generation ago would have gone to the UK as labourers, are today angling to win contracts in the big construction boom connected with London’s hosting of the 2012 Olympic Games.

The games – and the regeneration of the area that is set to accompany the event – is expected to result in £9bn ($18bn) worth of contracts.
