Sri Lankans face clear-cut choice in election

Polling began in Sri Lanka on Thursday amid tight security, with a too-close-to-call contest between two candidates with radically opposing views on how to settle their country's 20-year civil war with Tamil separatists.

As many as 100,000 police officers will be guarding the 10,000 polling stations across the country, according to media reports. The result is expected on Friday.
