Employers face legal tests over religious beliefs

A wave of high-profile religious bias lawsuits is testing the limits of Britain’s anti-discrimination laws, forcing businesses to reconsider how they approach deep-rooted – and at times contentious – beliefs.

Lillian Ladele, a Christian registrar, last week took Islington Council to an employment tribunal for refusing to exempt her from registering same-sex civil partnerships.
