Michael Eisner asked Sidney Poitier if he would be interested in a Walt Disney directorship in 1994, even though the two knew one another only casually, the veteran actor told the Delaware chancery court on Tuesday.

He joined after being briefed on his boardroom duties by Irwin Russell, a board member at the time, and Mr Eisner's lawyer.
