Sarkozy’s constitution plans upset party

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is risking a serious backlash among parliamentarians in his own centre-right party over proposals to reform France’s constitution.

Members of the ruling UMP believe the reforms could cede too much ground to their political opponents.
