Several of MCI's biggest investors are urging Qwest Communications to re-nter the bid battle for MCI, the second largest US long distance carrier.

Qwest withdrew its latest cash and paper offer for MCI worth $9.75bn on Monday after MCI's board rejected the bid in favour of a revised but lower offer worth $8.75bn from Verizon Communications.
