Nomura, one of the few remaining independent investment banks, is shifting its focus overseas – and reconfirming London as a pre-eminent financial centre by moving key positions to the City.
“In Europe, it is difficult to imagine that any other city would take London’s place as the financial centre,” said Hiromi Yamaji, Nomura’s chief executive of global investment banking. Starting Tuesday, he will run Nomura’s global investment banking operations from London.
