Old Mutual: no big disposals soon

Old Mutual said it would not sell off any large businesses in the near term, as it reported falling first-quarter sales, but cheered investors with a boost to its capital position, writes Paul J Davies.

Philip Broadley, chief financial officer, said that after closing its Bermuda operations to new business in the quarter and cutting sales at its US life unit, there would be no big disposals soon.
