McDonald’s to award national qualifications

By a strange twist of fate McDonald’s, the company that brought the world McJobs, is to become England’s first high street employer with the authority to award nationally recognised qualifications.

The fast food company has been attacked by critics in Britain’s post-industrial era for pioneering so-called “McJobs” – low-paid, low-skilled service employment that largely replaced high-skilled work in old manufacturing industries.
