Regulators push to revive auction-rate securities

Wall Street banks are coming under growing pressure from US regulators to help unfreeze the collapsed market for auction-rate securities, one of the biggest casualties of the credit crunch.

Officials from the enforcement division of the US Securities and Exchange Commission are talking to a number of banks in an effort to find solutions to restore liquidity, according to several people briefed on the matter.
