Young French hit hardest by job cuts

France's young people have been hit hardest by the economic crisis, with the effects of the downturn compounded by failings in the education system and a high minimum wage, according to a study published yesterday.

Unemployment in the 15 to 24-year-old age group has risen much faster than in the rest of the working population, said the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
