Telefónica drive for control of Vivo has 'stalled'

Telefónica's efforts to secure exclusive control of Vivo, Brazil's largest mobile operator, have stalled, according to a senior executive at the Spanish telecoms group.

Telefónica jointly controls Vivo with Portugal Telecom, and during the summer the Spanish group offered to buy out its Portugese partner for more than €3bn ($4.36bn).
