The brave talk in Brighton this week was of fightbacks and unprecedented political recoveries. Bible class may be a distant memory in schools, but the name of Lazarus is still considered worth invoking.
For chapter and verse – literally – go to John 11: 41-44. According to this account, Lazarus of Bethany was brought back to life by Jesus four days after being laid in his tomb. (The story does not appear in any of the other Gospels, however, and so must be regarded as “single source”.)
