Big tech names expect large losses

The technology industry suffered another black day Friday as a host of big names, including NEC and Hitachi, said they would make large losses in the year to March.

The industry’s crisis, and that of the chip sector in particular, has deepened after German chipmaker Qimonda, which controls about 10 per cent of the global D-Ram market, last week became the first big chipmaker to file for insolvency.
