Hollywood shifts focus on pirates

Hollywood's decision to start suing US consumers caught illegally sharing movies over the internet represents a dramatic shift in strategy for the industry, a move reflecting growing concern that record companies have not been able to stem endemic online music piracy.

The Motion Picture Association of America, which represents top studios including Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers and NBC Universal, yesterday said member studios would launch the first lawsuits in two weeks.
