7-Eleven parent in $2.4bn US drive

Seven & I Holdings, one of Japan’s biggest retailers, said it would step up its presence in the US, adding 1,000 new 7-Eleven stores in a $2.4bn expansion.

The company on Thursday said it would also refurbish its existing 6,000 US stores as it seeks to boost sales there by 15 per cent to $10bn by 2010.
