Gender pay gap grew last year

The gender pay gap widened last year, prompting fresh calls for private sector employers to be forced to conduct equal pay audits.

The difference between the average pay of men and women widened 0.1 percentage points to 17.1 per cent during the 12 months to April, according to official figures published yesterday.
