Harley cuts production as demand dips

Sagging US consumer demand for recreational products has led Harley-Davidson, the motorcycle maker, to cut production, resulting in a projected 4 to 6 per cent drop in 2007 profits.

The company’s shares fell 9 per cent to $49.28 yesterday. Though the production cut came as little surprise to analysts, it was bigger than most had estimated.
