Independent schools fight rising costs

Sir, You report (“Clothing main cost at state school”, August 5) that “the cost of state schooling rose by 2.3 per cent in the year to June 2008. But this was still considerably less than overall inflation - and much less than private school fees. These increased by 6.2 per cent in 2007-8, according to the Independent Schools Council”.
