Japan’s ‘good value’ retailers buck trend

Japan has suffered from sluggish consumer demand even before its economy began sliding into recession as it was hit by the global financial meltdown.

But amid the gloom that has enveloped the majority of retailers, those that are able to offer high quality products at reasonable prices have continued to see firm demand from Japan’s increasingly penny-pinching shoppers.
