Oil rallies while copper hits record

Oil prices rallied strongly with IPE Brent for May delivery rising $1.80 to $67.71 a barrel with traders reporting funds opening fresh long positions on the first trading session of the new quarter.

At one point Brent peaked at $67.79, close to its intra-day record of $68.89 reached in the aftermath of the US hurricanes last autumn.
