How do you spell Googlopoly? It is something that regulators on both sides of the Atlantic will have to learn fast if the internet search company succeeds in cosying up to Yahoo with a deal to sell some of the adverts that appear alongside Yahoo’s search engine results.
Of course, that will not happen if Microsoft – a convicted monopolist itself – has anything to do with it. The software company, not deterred by the failure of its attempt to buy all of Yahoo, is back on the scene with a new plan. The exact details are unclear, but Microsoft seems to want to carve out Yahoo’s search business for itself.
